Back to the mat!!!

This evening I am doing something I haven't done in over a month. TAKE A YOGA CLASS!! I am ashamed to admit it but money has been very tight and my shop and other blog have been taking up more and more of my time. While I do greatly appreciate the tips for a home practice, I just can't get my head to that space! When I do manage to practice at home, it just feels like stretching, it doesn't feel like yoga to me. I just love being in a classroom setting and sharing a practice even if it's in a room full of strangers. I know there are some of you who feel the complete opposite and that's cool too. Everyone receives yoga differently.

So thanks to Uncle Sam and this tax rebate many of us Americans are getting this week, I am off to take a class tonight, I'm not sure where yet. I have three yoga studios that I consider my hOMe space. Of course I'm worried that my body will be too rusty. I'm a little self-conscious because even though the scale says I've lost a couple of pounds, I still feel a little sloppy. Regardless, I am very excited!

What is the longest you have gone without a practice?

I also started reading a lovely novel about a yoga instructor that I plan to write about once I finish. I can't wait to see how it ends!

Oh! And while I'm here, I wanted to share a blog entry posted on Yoga Journal, it made me smile: Yoga Teachers Eat Cupcakes, Too.

Well the longest I've gone without going to class is about six months or so. I tend not to go to class more often than once a month these days. I self practice 5 or 6 times a week, but I guess the longest I've gone without that is a few weeks when I've been really sick.

Glad you enjoyed your practice :)

Just found your blog...I've gone once in the past 4 weeks and just the other day was wondering if I was still as interested in making time for yoga. Reading this reminded me that yes, I love it and can't wait for class on Saturday! I also can't really get too excited about doing yoga on my own, the fact that I have to think about what to do next ruins a lot of the "letting go" experience for me. Got into yoga through physical therapy for a back injury and now wish I had more time for it, it does me so much good both physically and mentally, and I'm coming to terms with the idea that I don't always have to be all about yoga, I can take some time away in order to enjoy it even more when I come back.
